What is “Build in Public” movement?

Build In Public is a concept that has become pretty popular on social media. It presumes that a founder or a team shares the whole process of ideation, then building a product, then validating, customer acquisition, etc.

Why would anyone do such a thing? For a number of reasons.

First, going stealth mode can be good if your product is based on a very unique technology (even in this case, it’s a questionable strategy). If the tech is pretty generic (just another tweak in JavaScript, a better UI than others, some additional benefits for users etc.) it makes no sense to keep it a secret. Copycats can copy everything pretty fast nowadays, so what specifically are you gaining by going secretive with your startup idea? A week or a month? If you are 100% certain that you would be able to capture the whole market within this timeframe then it might make sense to go for it. But realistically speaking, this scenario is impossible to implement, therefore you have to create a unique vibe…
